Damage to clothes and carpets is caused by the larvae of the clothes moth and carpet beetle respectively. A survey will be need ed to be carried out to determine where the source or the infestation started.

The female clothes moth can lay up to fifty eggs which hatch into larvae. The larvae remain as such for up to fifty days, during which time it will be feeding on wool, furs, feathers, silk, and mohair until it pupates and emerge as an adult.

The carpet beetle larvae pupates after 70 to 90 days, again during which time it will be feeding on wool, furs, feathers, silk, and mohair until it pupates and emerge as an adult.
